Get To Know Some Of Our Mentors!

We have some awesome mentors here at The Code Zone, each with varied tastes and skills! Today we’re going to have a brief look into the minds of some of our newer mentors, Harry, Meg, Tom, Tyler, and Chris! Let’s dive right into things!

  1. Any game you like gets a sequel, which game and why?

Harry: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. I know there are other Paper Mario games, but a true sequel to this one would be amazing!

Meg: Kirby's Epic Yarn! It was my favourite game growing up, and I would love a newer console to play in that adorable cosy world! Kirby and Yarn make for the cutest combo with super fun gameplay.

Tom: I’m not sure if this really counts but it’d be so cool to see Fire Emblem 6 get an official English release. I love Fire Emblem 7, which was a prequel to 6. Give me the game it was a prequel to!

Tyler: Robot Wars: Arenas of Destruction. That game was immense! You got to build your own robot and throw it into the arena to smash up your opponents while trying to avoid the house robots. I'd love to see a modern sequel with updated graphics and even more customization options.

Chris: It would have to be Skyrim, it was my first big role-playing game and I'd love to come back to a new part of that world. Doesn't help that it's been getting promised for years and still hasn't turned up!

  1. What food could you eat for every meal?

Harry: Mashed potato with cheese

Meg: Tricky question! Either vegetarian “chicken” noodle soup or a classic Sunday roast! Anything warming and comforting with a bunch of veggies and I’m game.

Tom: RAMEN

Tyler: Probably chicken pesto pasta, to be honest. It's delicious and I never seem to get tired of it!

Chris: Anything in a wrap, I think it's the perfect form of food, you can make them into anything and use all kinds of fillings!

  1. If you could choose any Pokemon to be your partner, who and why?

Harry: My answer to this changes every day, today I think it's Garganacl. I'd hitch a ride on its shoulders if feeling lazy, and it looks like it could sort of hold game pieces so maybe I could teach it to play board games. And of course, it could help me with cooking!

Meg: Cinderace! An adorable bunny that plays football AND has fire powers? Ideal for battles, friendship and a kick about! Plus, she’s my starter in Pokémon shield, so I am loyal to her.

Tom: Blaziken!!! Me and that guy go wayyy back (it’s not just because of speed boost I swear)

Tyler: It has to be Gengar. I've had the same original Gengar from my best friend for 14 years! I've traded him all the way up from Pokémon Pearl and he's now on my Switch. He's been part of all my ranked teams over the years, so there's a lot of history there.

Chris: It would have to be Lapras, it's been my favourite for a long time. I love the idea of having a big friend like that, and she's the go-to Pokemon to surf around with which always looked like the most fun thing to do in any of the Pokemon games!

  1. What's a secret talent you have?

Harry: I can make my eyes' pupils much bigger or smaller at will, without having to change the light!

Meg: I can sew! I’m on call to hem all my friends’ trousers or help put together a quilt for a wedding present. I’m currently working on an adjustable wheelchair bag you can turn into a backpack!

Tom: I’m one of those people who can dislocate their thumb and pop it in and out of its socket on command. Very useful, I know.

Tyler: I'm an absolute whizz in the kitchen! I love cooking, and I'm also a big fan of baking cakes.

Chris: I'm not sure if it's much of a talent, more like a weird party trick, but I can solve a Rubik's Cube in under a minute?

  1. Which of The Code Zone's games is your favourite?

Harry: I'm struggling to choose between Air Attack and Pro Platformer! Both are awesome

Meg: I love Dungeon of Doom; it’s the perfect amount of spooky and goofy! I love game play where you’re battling a bunch of enemies at once, and as a seasoned Dungeons and Dragons nerd, any game I get to be a wizard I love. Plus, the codes in the code card are super fun!

Tom: There are so many to choose from but maybe Dungeon of Doom if I had to pick just one?

Tyler: Probably Phantom Foray. I really enjoy games where you've got to earn upgrades and see how long you can survive, so it's right up my street.

Chris: I have a soft spot for tower defence games, and some of the ones we make here are so fun! Defend the Castle is a big favourite, and I'd love to play more ones just like it!
