Happy World Wide Web Day!
Join us as we celebrate World Wide Web Day and find out about how we strive to make our corner of the internet a fun and safe place for children to enjoy!
The World Wide Web. This Amorphous, ever-changing entity almost all of us use daily, heck, if you’re reading this you’re absolutely using it right now! (Unless some kind soul has printed this and you’re reading that way, if that’s you let us know!)
How do we come into this?
With the World Wide Web being, well, wide, it’s important that we use our small corner to help as many of our members learn to navigate it safely as we can! We set up our clubs as a consistent, safe space online, where our members are free to ask questions and talk about how to safely use the internet. To help with this our STEM certified mentors receive regular training where they can also ask questions and learn about the ever changing world that is the World Wide Web!
We also find that our clubs allow members to get comfortable with the internet, navigating to our website and interacting with all the different parts helps build that confidence!
Tech Literacy and the World Wide Web
The ever-changing nature of the World Wide Web, websites opening and closing and changing every day is another thing we help our members keep up with. With coding we teach our members to be adaptable, problems will arise often with our code, meaning we have to adapt to the situation and work to fix the bugs as they appear! This allows our members to thrive in the digital frontier, being able to find the things on the websites they look at, even if they change.
This adaptability leaks into the outside world too! We’ve heard many a story of members becoming better problem solvers outside of The Code Zone too!
Want to support your child as they navigate the web?
All in all, the World Wide Web is an amazing yet vast space, full of wonders for all ages to find. We count ourselves lucky to be in a position to guide young people towards a future where they understand how to navigate and interact with this endless stream of data.
If you’d like us to help guide your child on their online journeys then get in touch! We’d love to see how we can help you!
