Run a coding club at your school, without knowing how to code

You do not need to know how to code. Neither does your club leader. We train someone you already have, a teacher, a teaching assistant or a parent volunteer, and a STEM-certified mentor from our end backs them up every single week.

A new working game arrives every week, with the code given, videos explaining what it does, and a set of "hacks" that get the children changing it, breaking it and making it theirs. Your leader runs the room. We handle the coding.

Leader training from £150. Club licence from £495 a year. Ages 6 to 16.

your leader is never on their own

Why school coding clubs usually stop

Not for lack of good intentions. These are the three things that actually end them, and each one is what our model is built around.

Nobody on staff codes

So the club waits for the one teacher who does, and stops when they are busy. Our leader does not need to code, because the code is already written and explained.

Week three, and then what?

Free project libraries hand you a pile of activities and leave you to plan. We send one finished game a week, in order, with the session already shaped around it.

A question nobody can answer

One child asks something the leader cannot answer, and confidence goes. Your named mentor takes those questions during the week, so the leader is never stuck in front of the room.

How it works

Choose your leader

A teacher, a teaching assistant, a HLTA or a parent volunteer. No coding experience required, and we mean that literally.

We train them

An online training session plus a leader handbook: how a session runs, how to help a child who is stuck, and what to do when the room gets loud.

They run the club

Lunchtime or after school, an hour a week. The week's game, its videos and its hacks are waiting in the leader's account.

We back them up

A named STEM-certified mentor preps your leader before each session and answers their questions in between. Same mentor, all year.

What lands in your leader's account every week

This is the part that makes a non-coder able to run it. Every week is a finished, working game, not a blank project and a worksheet.

  • A game that already works. The children start by playing it, then start changing it. Nobody stares at an empty screen.
  • Videos that explain the code. Including where to find the blocks, so "I cannot find it" stops being the whole session.
  • Hacks and boosts. Hacks are the guided changes. Boosts are harder ones for the children who race ahead. Differentiation without planning it.
  • Deliberate small mistakes. We break bits of the code on purpose so the children have to find and fix them. Reverse engineering, dressed up as a game.
  • Levels with certificates. Each level is a real step, and each one earns a STEM-certified certificate. Something to hand out in assembly.
  • Seasonal Game Jams. Everyone in the country builds to one theme, then plays what the others made. Your club is in it too.

Who actually runs it

Two routes, the same licence. Pick whichever fits how your school already does clubs.

A teacher or teaching assistant

A lunchtime or after-school club, run in house. The training counts as CPD, and it belongs to your staff member afterwards: they can run the club again next year without us reteaching it.

Best if you already have someone keen and you want the club to be part of school life rather than an outside booking.

A parent volunteer

Some of the best clubs we see are run by a parent who wanted one to exist. They can run it free as a volunteer, or charge for places and recoup the licence: about fifteen children at five pounds a session covers it comfortably.

Best if no member of staff has capacity, but a parent has the enthusiasm. We train them the same way.

What it costs

One invoice, once a year. No per-pupil admin, no minimum numbers, and nothing to reconcile at half term.

Leader training

£150

One-off. Online training for your club leader plus the leader handbook. Start here if you want to see what you are buying before committing to a year.

Club licence, up to 10 children

£495 a year

Training included, a named mentor supporting your leader all year, weekly games and every child's account and certificates.

Club licence, up to 20 children

£995 a year

The same, for a bigger club or two sittings a week. Larger schools and multi-academy trusts, talk to us and we will price the group.

Prices exclude VAT. Invoiced to the school, or to a PTA or parent leader if that is who is running it.

If some of your families cannot pay

Through our Future Makers programme, companies fund places for children who would not otherwise get near any of this. If cost is what is stopping a child joining your club, tell us. We would far rather find a way than lose the child.

SEND AND ATTENDANCE

Commissioning for one child, not a club?

If you have a child who is not accessing school, or who is in school but not engaging, that is a different conversation and we have a different service for it: one to one online sessions, a named mentor, a written note after every session and a half-termly review with you.

Commissioned as part of an alternative provision or EOTAS package, from your notional SEND budget or high needs funding.

"My son attended Code Zone live lessons for several years. He is autistic, selective mute and struggled with school but wanted to learn game design. When he was struggling to attend school having the live lessons once a week gave us some much needed structure, but there was never any pressure to interact outside his comfort zone."

Coding is for everyone

Supporting every learner it's kind of our thing

We hold the Autism Inclusion Award from the National Autistic Society, the UK’s leading autism charity, and a large share of our members are neurodivergent. Our mentors are trained to create an inclusive, patient environment where children with ADHD, autism, anxiety, or diverse learning needs truly thrive.

Questions a school usually asks first

What do we need on the computers?

A browser and a reliable connection. It runs on Windows, Mac and Chromebooks, and nothing needs installing. We recommend Chrome. Headphones help if the room is shared.

Does it fit the computing curriculum?

It covers most of the programming strand across KS1 to KS4, but we are honest about our aim: confidence, creativity and problem solving rather than exam preparation. Use it as enrichment, not as your scheme of work.

Can we use Minecraft?

Yes. If your school already has Microsoft Education Edition, which most secondaries and many primaries do inside their Microsoft 365 licence, Minecraft Mod Worlds is included and the children mod their own worlds with real code.

What if our leader leaves?

Train a second person from the start, at no extra cost on either licence. It is the single thing that most reliably keeps a school club alive past its first year.
