Why Our Clubs Are Great For Neurodivergent Learners!
Interested in trying out our clubs? Not sure if it'll be suitable for your child?
We think learning to code should be accessible to everyone, which is why our clubs are designed with neurodivergent learners in mind! Read on to find out more about what makes our clubs so great...
Something you might have noticed is that we talk a LOT about our sessions being an excellent space for young neurodivergent people. We also readily mention our receiving of the National Autistic Society Autism Inclusion Award. But what does all of this actually mean? What kind of things do we do to make our sessions even more inclusive?
Small Group Sizes
First of all we let everyone code how they feel most comfortable. Be that in our small sessions of up to six members led by a patient, well trained, STEM certified mentor, or our self-paced academy where there’s no need to turn up at the same time every week. We feel that this allows for a quieter, more relaxed experience, giving each member the space and help that they need to thrive!
STEM-Certified, Enthusiastic Mentors
Our mentors are also more than happy to engage in conversations about passions/likes during sessions! Often we find clubs having asides where we discuss the latest pokemon game or languages or anything else that’s currently occupying our members minds!
Clear Instructions That Reward Pattern Recognition
We also find that coding itself is a useful thing for many neurodiverse people as it’s full of patterns and logical, predictable systems that many of our members find both rewarding and satisfying. An error in your code will always tell you exactly what is wrong directly after all!
